Message from Rabbi Knopf - May 5, 2020
Carly and I send greetings of love and support to all of you at this time. We are all doing our best, each of us struggling with our own challenges during this difficult period. We extend our condolences to those who have been bereaved and our prayers for a refuah shlemah to those who are suffering (or whose loved ones are suffering) from Covid-19 or any other illness. We also send our support to all those who are struggling with the difficulty of being confined to home at the moment, with all the different kind of challenges that this brings.
At the same time, I have been inspired by the resilience and positive attitude of many of our members. I hope we can all reach out to each other with support right now and look forward with hope to the time when we can safely emerge from our current situation.
It has been a pleasure to meet up with so many of you on Zoom over the last week. A particular highlight was the Shabbaton! It was wonderful to see so many Beth Ora members coming together to welcome Shabbat on Friday and to listen to Havdallah on Saturday (please see image below). Listening to members who had not seen each other for many weeks calling out to each other across my computer screen was a real joy! I hope that many of you used the special program that we produced for Shabbat and that it enhanced your day.
As the week progresses, we look forward to more opportunities to be together - for Mincha/Maariv this evening and for a chat over coffee tomorrow. On Thursday evening, the Montreal Jewish community will be holding a very important event on mental health, the details of which will be sent later in the week.
For now, please take good care and don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can help you with.
