From the Desk - June 30, 2020
It's wonderful that, even at this stage of lockdown, we're still finding new and terrific ways of engaging the community.
Last week, we enjoyed a well-attended online bingo game, excellently organized and facilitated by Eric Dym!
On Sunday, the children of the community enjoyed a Scavenger Hunt, searching the outside of houses on Bertrand, Nantel, Stevens, Badeaux and Major in search of pictures of different mitzvahs. Congratulations to the Deluya family (see picture below) who were the first to complete the Scavenger Hunt and collect the ice cream prizes from our home! Thank you to all those families who put pictures on their windows and doors for this event!
I am also happy to let you know that our opening minyan went very nicely on Shabbat morning. We are using a tent with openings at the sides and are grateful to those who attended and observed social distancing. As I was praying on Shabbat morning, I was thinking of so many who love to attend Shabbat services and are not yet able to do so. Although we continue to invite those up to the age of 65 to our services, we hope that, if all goes well, we will be able to extend this invitation to the whole community in the near future.
Finally, we look forward to another myth buster session tomorrow evening! I look forward to seeing you to discuss five big misconceptions about Judaism!
