From the Desk - Winter?
Shalom Friends! I hope you have enjoyed a great week. My family are a little confused. We were sure that Winter had finally arrived but everyone keeps telling us that it's warm outside! We were very privileged this week to celebrate two Bar Mitzvahs in the shul. On Monday morning, we celebrated with Ben Lorber and his family and, this morning, we joined Ethan Lazarus and his family for their special celebration. It was wonderful to see these two men reaching this landmark and we wish them both every blessing for their Jewish adult lives. Our 'Raising Your Child to Be a Mensch' program continued this week as we explored the topic of 'Teaching Your Kids To Be Kind'. It was a very rewarding discussion and everyone benefited from the assessment of our priorities as parents and the learning of methods to communicate the message of the importance of kindness to our children. Next week, the course continues with our session on 'Teaching Your Kids Gratitude'. Last week, I mentioned Sherri Mandell in my sermon. This week, I read a new article by Mandell that you can read here. We wish heartfelt condolences to Sarah Miller on the passing of her daughter, Roslyn, who was buried yesterday. May Hashem bless the family with strength and comfort at this difficult time. We wish everyone a Shabbat Shalom and safe travels for those who are going on vacation this week.
